Many valued enhancements made in 2016-17

Date: May 1, 2017 posted by amy mail Twitter facebook

It's May, which means schools everywhere are focusing on finishing the year strong and looking ahead to summer break. Just like the end of the year is a natural time to evaluate students' progress, we think it's also a great time to reflect on the advancements on the NutriStudents K-12 platform. With every enhancement, NutriStudents K-12 provides more and more value to foodservice programs across the country.

It's been a busy year! All of this is in addition to the many regional trade shows, food shows, SNA's ANC 2016 (and 2017!), and many in-the-field meetings with our distributor partners and representatives of school districts nationwide.

Act Now!

As previously reported on our blog, we were also honored to be invited to Washington, D.C. by key USDA officials who were interested in learning how NutriStudents K-12 can help forecast USDA Foods usage. They understand the challenge districts have anticipating their commodities needs far in advance and are exploring ways to help schools maximize the use of commodities. NutriStudents K-12 clients now have the luxury of using our Commodities Forecasting Tool to take the guesswork out of their allocations.

While we were in DC, we also met with Congressional staff members to advocate for the preservation of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act nutritional guidelines and continued funding for youth enrichment programs and free and reduced-meals for families at or below poverty levels. We encourage you to also reach out to your Congressional delegation to let them know that investing in kids and their healthfulness is a wise investment in our country's future. Please do your part to protect important child nutrition programs!

Looking ahead

NutriStudents K-12 will monitor any changes that may be handed down by the USDA and the Trump administration. Regardless of the changes that may come from Washington, NutriStudents K-12 will continue providing nutritious, delicious menus and valuable support tools to our foodservice friends. We have a priority list of enhancements to introduce before and into the fall of the 2017-2018 school year. We also wonder, what changes would you like to make NutriStudents K-12 even more valuable to you and your foodservice colleagues? In the next few weeks, you will receive an invitation to participate in a short survey that will help us identify and order our system upgrades. Please watch for the email and respond promptly. We appreciate your participation.
