NutriStudents K-12 had the privilege of personally introducing our system, its capabilities and our soon-to-be released commodity forecasting tool for USDA Foods to high-level USDA officials in Washington, D.C., on Monday, March 24.
We met with David Tuckwiller, Director of USDA Commodity Procurement; Dennis Sullivan, Food & Nutrition Service Systems Branch Chief; and Robin Jepson, Food and Nutrition Services Change Management and Process Improvement Manager for a brief system demonstration and a discussion of how districts might be better able to incorporate USDA Foods into their menus and how to anticipate needed quantities six months to a year in advance.
Tuckwiller briefed us on his division’s implementation of the Business Management Improvement initiative and how it is driving changes within Agricultural Marketing Services and its desire for better forecasting tools for USDA Foods.
We look forward to ongoing conversations and collaboration with the USDA to support its efforts to streamline school meal programs and supply cost-effective ingredients to schools.
