Laurie Yohn, general manager of NutriStudents K-12, recently attained the School Nutrition Association’s professional credential of school nutrition specialist (SNS), the highest credential offered in the school foodservice industry. She is one of 1,300 individuals in the country to achieve the accreditation. Way to go, Laurie!
Laurie achieved the designation by successfully passing a national standardized exam encompassing nine knowledge areas, demonstrating knowledge and competency in managing school nutrition programs, and being dedicated to ongoing professional development in nutrition and school foodservice.
For many of our clients, Laurie's expertise in school food programs is readily apparent in every conversation. Our clients and staff rely on her as a go-to resource for anything related to operating a school foodservice program. She has a thorough understanding of the federal nutritional guidelines for the NSLP, the NSBP and other child nutrition programs, and generously shares that knowledge to help clients operate a USDA-compliant foodservice program, and to prepare for and pass their administrative reviews/compliance audits.
Laurie has been in the foodservice industry for more than 17 years, 16 of which were specifically in school foodservice positions where she managed student populations up to 2,300 students. She is a registered dietetic technician, has achieved level 3 certification with the School Nutrition Association and has earned her Minnesota food manager certificate. She has an associate’s degree in applied science as a dietetic technician.
