Free menus meet USDA meal pattern guidelines for Summer Food Service Program and National School Lunch Program's Seamless Summer Option

We’ve already had hundreds of school districts nationwide tap into our free COVID-19 Emergency Menu to meet kids’ nutritional needs while schools are closed. The 4-week menu conforming to Summer Food Service Program guidelines and meal patterns has been employed extensively across the country.

Now, we’re pleased to make available free COVID-19 Emergency Menus to districts offering meals through the National School Lunch Program’s Seamless Summer Option (SSO). The SSO menus are available for K-5, 6-8, K-8, 9-12 age groups for 4-day, 5-day and 7-day programs. Each menu is conducive to grab-and-go or meal deliveries and includes:

  • daily recipes.
  • food production reports.
  • weekly calendar reports.
  • weekly contributions reports.
  • weekly HHKFA checklists.

These menus conform to the weekly nutritional requirements, portion sizes and meal patterns, including vegetable subgroups, required under USDA nutritional guidelines for the National School Lunch Program.

“The response to our initial COVID-19 Emergency Menus has been incredible,” said Eldon Brustuen, co-founder and president of NutriStudents K-12. “We’re thrilled to be able to help school foodservice directors nationwide continue to provide kids regular, well-balanced meals and keep them connected to pieces of their pre-pandemic life – their schools, regular meals and friendly faces.”

NutriStudents K-12 is offering these free COVID-19 Emergency Menus to help ease the challenges facing school nutrition heroes on the front lines during the coronavirus pandemic. They provide a glimpse into the depth of support and simplicity of NutriStudents K-12. Schedule a system demonstration today to learn more.
